2023 Citizen L32-X LFV – Machine 1

This 2023 Citizen Cincom L32-X LFV is the first of two 2023 machines available from Swiss CNC. It has fewer than 2,000 cutting hours, is in pristine condition and has been fully serviced by Citizen Machinery.

The Citizen Cincom L32-X LFV is an eight-axis CNC sliding head lathe combining 32 mm machining capacity, twin spindles and driven tooling for the production of complex precision components. Equipped with Citizen’s Low Frequency Vibration technology and an extensive bar-feeding, coolant, extraction and tooling package, this machine offers a versatile platform for turning, milling, drilling, tapping and back-working operations.

Technical specification

The L32-X LFV provides a maximum machining length of 320 mm per chucking in guide-bush mode and 80 mm in non-guide-bush mode. Main and sub-spindles both operate at speeds of up to 8,000 rpm, with C-axis control and spindle synchronisation supporting component transfer and machining on both ends of the workpiece. Main spindle motor power is rated at 3.7/7.5 kW, with 2.2/5.7 kW available at the sub-spindle.

Driven tooling is provided on the gang, front and back tool stations, with rotary tool speeds of up to 6,000 rpm. The tooling arrangement includes six gang turning positions, five gang rotary tool positions and a three-position front rotary drive unit. The Y2 back-working unit provides two rows comprising four driven and five fixed positions, allowing a range of secondary operations to be carried out within the machine.

The machine is controlled by the Citizen M70LPC CNC system. Its specification includes programmable LFV functionality on the X1 and Z1 axes, LFV Mode 3, rigid tapping, helical interpolation, milling interpolation, spindle synchronous control, constant surface speed control and user macros. These functions provide flexibility when programming components requiring a combination of turning and driven-tool operations.

Included equipment

Automatic material handling is provided by an IEMCA Boss 338-37-HD Combo bar feeder with touchscreen control. A workpiece conveyor and parts collection stand with plastic tray provide collection of finished components.

The high-pressure coolant package comprises a Hydrajet CM20-2000-6 system delivering 140 bar at 20 litres per minute. The unit incorporates a 120-litre cutting-oil tank and 10-micron filtration, supplying up to five high-pressure coolant lines controlled by B codes, together with a separate 20-bar sub-spindle wash line. Four SAU825DP through-coolant kits and a dual air/oil valve form part of the package.

Mist extraction is provided by an Absolent A.MIST10S unit with ducting, airflow regulation and drain-back to the machine tank, specified for use with neat cutting oil. Additional equipment includes a Firetrace 9 kg CO₂ fire suppression system, a swarf conveyor with external filtration and tipping bin, and a Wogaard oil recovery unit to return collected cutting oil to the machine tank.

The tooling package includes an ARNO AWL rail with installation kit, two additional GSC1310 drilling spindles, two Heimatec 4:1 ER11 speed-multiplying driven toolholders and a GSE3310 three-tool cross/end-face drilling attachment. ER16 and ER20 collet sets, an L32 ER20 collet chuck set, sleeve adaptors and additional toolholding are also included.

Further machine features include part-off tool breakage detection, cutting-oil level detection, coolant flow monitoring, spindle cooling, thermal displacement correction, a work light and a three-colour status tower. Machine weight is approximately 2,900 kg, excluding ancillary equipment.
